Letter-Sound Playground

Research has demonstrated that basic phonological awareness skills and letter-name knowledge are important contributors to learning letter-sound relationships.  This deck is comprised of cards with two formats.  Twenty consonant letters (-x is omitted as its sound is only heard in the final position) and five vowel letters and initial sound picture cards can be used for a variety of sorts and a Secret Code task.  This activity is aligned to the Reading Foundational Skills: Phonological Awareness and Phonics and Word Recognition.  The cards may be used with partners or as a teacher-led activity with a group of students.
