This deck is comprised of a set of pictures that can be used for alliteration and syllable segmentation. Young children benefit from lessons in alliteration. By learning to identify and pay close attention to the sounds in words, they'll be able to discern how different words vary in their pronunciation. Syllable segmentation is important for the development of a child’s sound awareness in words. As they become familiar with syllables they will begin to see syllable patterns in words (e.g. giggle and wiggle both have the syllable ‘gle’) and be able to break longer words into their syllables to aid in spelling (e.g. spi-der).
